Corruption in the education sector: an introduction

Meier’s paper provides a useful tour de force of corruption in education. She underlines the incompatibility of corruption with a major goal of education to produce citizens respecting the law and human rights, and documents the debilitating effect of education corruption with global data and numerous specifi c cases. The paper also provides a reasonably comprehensive overview of the causes of corruption in education and what can be done to tackle it.
